Frequently Asked Questions - choirzone websites

Who can edit my website?
It's up to you. You can appoint as many editors as you like and assign them to the whole site or just specific pages. For example, your membership secretary could edit the members' list. It's a great way of keeping your site up to date and avoiding bottlenecks waiting for the 'webmaster' to make changes.

What can I add to my website?
You can add as much or as little as you want. Pages, text, photos, sound, video......
Your members can also contribute.

What if I already have a website?
You can easily redirect your own address (like www.mychoirwebsite.net) to a new choirzone site. If you are happy with your existing site, you could still use a choirzone site as a members' site.

How many pages can I add?
As many as you like - there is no restriction.

What can I edit?
You can edit almost anything on the sites except for some of the sponsors' and partners' links and Google links.
These are present on the site to enable us to offer the sites free of charge. However, they are all genuinely useful resources, relevant to the sector.

How can choirzone be offered free of charge?
choirzone websites are free because they carry links from sponsors. All of these are 'low-key' (there are no pop-ups, for example) and are relevant to the choral sector.

What are these Google links?
choirzone websites display Google links as another way to help cover the costs of the websites.
The Google system automatically selects links which are relevant to the content on the page in question, so these will be genuinely useful links.

Can I recruit my own sponsors?
Yes. Because you can add pages/modules/content to your choirzone site, you can easily invite sponsorship in exchange for listings or coverage on your site - in the same way that choirzone is sponsored. How much you charge for this is up to you but it's a good way of generating regular income. You could link this to advertising on your concert programmes or parish magazine.

Frequently Asked Questions - choirzone hub

What is the choirzone hub?
It's this site. The hub is the central resource where individual choir websites are created. As the project develops, new resources will progressively be added to the hub which is linked to all the choirzone websites directly through blogs.

Frequently Asked Questions - choirzone sponsorship

How will sponsorship benefit my organisation?
By sponsoring choirzone, you will be able to communicate your brand directly through the whole choirzone network.

  • You will have a profile page on the choirzone hub site which, in turn, will link to your own website.
  • There will be links to your profile on every choirzone website which is created after your sponsorship starts.
  • You will also be able to submit news stories through the sponsors' blog which again appears in every website.
  • As a choirzone sponsor, you will benefit from preferential rates for sponsorship of other Zone projects as well as for display advertising in Zone magazine.

Who can sponsor choirzone? Is sponsorship right for me?
All choirzone sponsors must offer something relevant to the sector. So sheet music and travel are appropriate; fast food and furniture are not.

What's the difference between sponsors and partners?

  • Sponsors are organisations or businesses who want to use the choirzone network to reach potential customers, trainees and so on.
  • Partners are organisations with existing networks which can benefit from linking to the choirzone system - for example, by offering choirzone websites as a membership benefit.

What are the costs?
Regular sponsorship costs £480+VAT for 6 months with a minimum 12 month contract.
Partnership may be free of charge, depending on the partner's particular needs and type of network.

How soon can we sign up?
Sponsorship can usually be arranged within 48 hours.
